Tolk and Business: An Open Dialogue on Energy Realities and Opportunities

The Tolk Group of Companies held its latest meeting with business clients in Uzhhorod, bringing together participants both offline and online. The discussion centered on key issues of the energy market, ways to reduce electricity costs, efficient energy consumption, the implementation of new technologies, and the interaction between suppliers and consumers.
Among the topics that sparked a lively discussion were the participation of business in the energy transition, the advantages of implementing AMR/AMI systems, the certification of “green” electricity, the risks of chaotic solar generation, and preparations for Energoatom’s maintenance campaign in the summer of 2025.
Andriy Horkovyi, Head of the Business Client Sales Department at Tolk Ukraine LLC, and Mykhailo Petruk, Deputy Director of Volynelektrozbut LLC, spoke about the “active consumer” as one of the key trends in the modern energy market and the advantages of this status for businesses. The main benefits include reduced dependence on market fluctuations, increased energy independence for the enterprise, and the possibility of additional income in the future.
Why is it worth installing an AMR/AMI system today? This was the subject of a well-argued presentation by Viktoriia Hlukhaykina, Head of the Business Support Department at Tolk Ukraine LLC. She explained the importance of automated commercial electricity metering systems (AMR/AMI), how they help avoid overpayments, and allow for real-time consumption monitoring. For example, under a new calculation method that may come into effect soon, consumers without AMR/AMI would have had to pay 30–34% more for electricity in April and May than they actually did. Other advantages include compliance with legislation, avoidance of potential imbalances, and simplified energy management.
Viktoriia Hlukhaykina’s next presentation was dedicated to Guarantees of Origin for electrical energy (GOs). On October 21, 2024, the Tolk Group of Companies participated in Ukraine’s first auction for the sale of Guarantees of Origin for electricity produced from renewable energy sources.
Inextricably linked with such official confirmation of the origin of electricity from RES and its environmental value is the new “green” initiative from the Tolk Group, which has already found supporters among its business partners. This innovative tool—the “Green Mark” from Tolk—was presented by Iryna Beresneva, CEO of Tolk Ukraine LLC.
The “Green Mark” not only certifies the environmental responsibility of the manufacturing company but also provides marketing advantages and additional points in ESG rating systems, increases the competitiveness of consumers in all markets, especially those where environmental friendliness is a key condition for cooperation. The “Green Mark” from Tolk is an added benefit for business and a boost to international image.
How can you save money by changing your consumption schedule? Oksana Hentish, Director of Volynelektrozbut LLC, provided professional advice with examples of specific case studies on using “day-ahead” market (DAM) prices, adapting consumption, increasing enterprise energy efficiency, and implementing effective energy management.
What should be expected from Energoatom’s maintenance campaign, which has already begun and will last all summer? Yuriy Fedko, Director of Zakarpattiaenergozbut, dedicated his speech to the consequences for businesses and the response measures recommended by the supplier.
Iryna Beresneva, CEO of Tolk Ukraine LLC, revealed the risks to the energy system posed by the uncontrolled construction of solar power plants. She analyzed the history of the issue in detail, the causes of the problems, and proposed solutions. Moreover, the Tolk Group is already working on solving this problem for its consumer clients: the launch of the first phase of an energy storage system (ESS) is planned for 2025, with a capacity of 17 MW and a storage capacity of 50 MWh. This is a path towards manageable solar generation in Ukraine.
Meeting participants—both offline and online—had the opportunity to ask questions to the specialists, who provided qualified answers. The dialogue continued in a networking format. Such meetings are not the first for the Tolk Group and are definitely not the last!
The Tolk Group of Companies expresses its gratitude to all participants for their active involvement, discussion, and constructive questions. The company continues to work on solutions that will help businesses grow even in a challenging energy situation.
